Issues

Livability

Salt Lake City’s long-term success depends on nailing the basics—safe streets, affordable housing, well-maintained parks, and reliable public infrastructure. These are the core services that make a city livable and keep neighborhoods strong. As we face school closures and shifting demographics, we need better coordination with the school district and city departments to ensure our community remains a great place to live, learn, and grow.

Housing

Families are leaving the city because they can’t afford to stay. I couldn’t afford the home I bought just five years ago if I were buying today. Salt Lake City needs to diversify its housing stock by building more townhomes, row houses, and condos—not just more apartments. We need more ownership opportunities and gentle density that fits into existing neighborhoods.

Homelessness

Allowing people to live on the streets is neither compassionate nor sustainable. Salt Lake City needs a centralized campus for services and a new mental health facility to support unsheltered individuals with severe needs who pose a risk to themselves or others. We must also invest in addiction recovery and refocus on drug enforcement to address the root causes of chronic homelessness.

Transportation

Salt Lake City should be safe and easy to navigate—no matter how you get around. That means better bike infrastructure, reliable public transit, and walkable neighborhoods. But we also have to be realistic: most residents still rely on cars. We need a pragmatic transportation strategy that meets today’s needs while moving us toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Parks and Public Lands

Parks and public lands are at the heart of Salt Lake City life. We should focus on keeping our existing parks clean, safe, and accessible before taking on costly new projects like the Green Loop. I’ll push for improvements to park maintenance, trail connectivity, and better access to open spaces across the city—especially for families and neighborhoods that need it most.
